Seaton needs a class in Church history.

Do they offer that in the F_anciful L_and of the Calvinist?

Interesting, then why did you state:

" I have fought it for years but praise God He has opened my eyes to the revealed truth."

It sounds like you have recently changed your position.

You state that those who oppose your conviction of spiritual death are justifying their moral goodness which would mean according to your theological system a works salvation.

So are you trying to state that you were still saved even during the time you believed what is considered a works salvation? How can that be?

Salvation is either by works or by grace. If the position that you recently changed from and which I hold to is salvation by works, I would think that you either recently got saved or you still believe in salvation by works.

You can't have it both ways.

Whatever man God wills for you to marry, that is whom you have to submit. If you can't submit to him, then do not marry him.

It's quite silly to justify one sin by pointing to another sin.

"I haven't heard any Calvinist use Jn 3:16 as a proof text to tell someone if they prayed a prayer to invite Jesus into their heart they would be saved either."

I do not think they use John 3:16 at all. I was just agreeing with your hermeneutical point and contrasting it with that of the Calvinist.

"They are drawn to faith in Chist by the Holy Spirit who quickened their dead spirit while they were dead in tresspasses and sin"

I wonder what they were up to when they were in salvation lymbo.

JD,

Point taken. Is it not amazing how the Calvinist take the figurative part literally and the literal part figuratively?

Amen.

God saves those who believe in contrast to the Calvinist who believe that God saves those who will eventually believe.

Here's another quote from a more infamous Baptist preacher:

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish but have everlasting life."

I hope that edifies you at least half as much as the edification you find in your divines.

Well I guess I am safe, since I was not the one who accused you of having the corner of truth.

Don't worry, there are plenty of accusations that I have made towards Calvinist that you can choose from. I seriously doubt you have to make some up.

You may also want to look up what a strawman is.

I am off to lunch.

It is on my to-read list (though not on the top) believe it or not.

Your comments were enlightening. I always suspected what you said, but I have not had the time to do the research.

Actually, I believe its very true. I just think that it is true for you as well, not just the non-calvinist.

I also believe that there is figurative language in play as well. I hope you would allow God to make use of figurative language.

Actually, if you care to be honest, I have expressed to you in time past that I learn much from Reformed theologians.

That's if you care to be honest.

I and JD just happen to believe that God states what he means and means what he says. I know that you are used to redefining terms and funneling the Scriptures through your presupositions, but if I and JD would take the same approach then we would abase the integrity of Scripture to be nothing more than the private interpretation of one's theological whim.

By the way, I said a prayer for you. Seems like you are having a hard time. Remember:

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

There is a vast difference in consulting it and blind allegiance to it.

Your allegiance should be to the Bible not the divines.

Name one strawman made by me and I will correct myself and give you an apology.

Until then please look in the mirror.

"I try to avoid your stupid and childish and proud arguments but at times get drawn into them because of the EGO and PRIDE on your part."

Ha! Are you sure that it is not your EGO and PRIDE that is drawing you to me. Noone is forcing you to answer me. I guess its a matter of perspective.

"I wasn't seeking after Him until He sought after me and awakened my heart and mind to my sin and need of Christ."

Like I said. To the Calvinist "none" means everyone except me. Everyone else is guilty except the Calvinist. This is what is called the F_anciful L_and of the C_alvinist.
_______________________________________
And speaking of strawmen here comes another one....

"You on the other hand sought after God of your own will, and you were so smart to see your own need, unlike the rest of the imbeciles out there in the world."

They just keep coming, don't they.

My brother in law ran into a reformed Christian last Tuesday. All the person did was quote from the divines.

It means "noone" NOT everyone except the Calvinist.

I take it very literal. Its the Calvinist who applies that to everyone else except themselves.

I do not know about you but I did not have cursing and bitterness before I was saved, neither have I shed innocent blood.

Nevertheless there is figurative language in play here. The passage is a quote from a Psalm. I suppose you have never heard of a synecdoche.

You are right about Joshua 24, but we were not talking about salvation, we were talking about free will.
