Is there more than one Purpose Driven Life book? The one I saw was definitely man-centered. And where does the Bible say we are supposed to be "driven"? (I missed that, I was busy reading the part about be still and know.) And where does the Bible say we're supposed to blitz-market the work of a man in stores to make him rich and famous and start a cult of personality around him?

Many are consumed with outrage that this socialist is collaborating with the heads of companies that harvest personal information for profit (Google and Facebook) as well as the head of a news organization known for wanting draconian restrictions on news (Murdock), to decide the fate of the Internet. The e-G8 is sponsored by dollars from companies like Google, eBay, Microsoft, HP, and more. Why is this oligarchy getting to decide the future of the Internet rather than elected representatives? This thing doesn't pass the smell test.

I listened to the live broadcast. Camping came off as a scam artist. He never took any personal responsibility for setting himself up as a spiritual leader, deceiving people, and leaving them on their own. He even blamed God for people who sold their possessions ahead of May 21. Camping set a new date in October, and was unrepentant for his past false predictions. The secular media who were present mainly wanted him to trip himself up and give them a sound bite they could use in their stories, but he baffled them with long, incoherent, rambling answers to their questions that did not make much sense. Camping consistently deflected any blame for what he did, even going so far as to claim this situation is helping spread the gospel. I don't know anything about the history of Family Radio (I had never heard of it before recently, and they have never had any stations in my area), but right now Harold Camping comes across as a small-time fraudster.

I can understand why Harold Camping is in hiding, because he took a lot of money from people who probably want to get it back.

If Camping can spend more than $100 million getting his message about May 21, 2011 out in the first place, the least he can do is offer up some sort of statement now.

Bin Laden managed to get messages to the world without revealing his location and stayed hidden for over ten years.

Can we send Seal Team 6 to find Harold Camping?

These date setters are not good at math. Tune in on May 22 after nothing happens to hear about how Camping made a miscalculation in his guaranteed date. Usually they always come back and say they made a mistake.

Until then, speaking of making money off of this event, visit http://judgementday2011.com/ where they are selling t-shirts for a "very limited time". I'm not clear as to whether wearing one of these t-shirts will help you during the judgment or not. I'm also not clear on WHY anyone would want to make money now if they're going to be gone on May 21.

“ Chesed ”
If you're as perplexed by the title as I was, "hessed" is what Americans normally spell chesed, covenantal love. Strong's Number: 02617. http://studybible.info/strongs/H2617

Who asked him? That's what I always wonder. How does him being an expert in his domain (physics) make him an expert in philosophy and religion? Richard Dawkins is the same way. Neither has any background in philosophy that I know about. Why do these people think we care what they say?

All he is really saying is that he locked himself into a naturalist ghetto and doesn't like the surroundings. Big deal.

Dawkins builds his arguments in such a way that debates are not good for him. I've read his blind watchmaker book, and anyone could easily poke holes in the arguments he advances. Debates are bad, because in them Dawkins' essentially weak foundations are exposed. Dawkins is so weak in his reasoning that you would not even have to use religious arguments against him. You could expose his extremely weak understanding of math and computer science to blow up the blind watchmaker book's arguments. Just because he's a biologist doesn't mean he is qualified to talk about computer science or philosophy. He either ought to learn more about these subjects or stick to what he knows.

Dawkins makes up for weak arguments and a shallow understanding of philosophy with bluster.

“ A Clear Gospel Messsage ”
Pastor Quigley's series is a clear and understandable presentation that focuses on the core gospel message of sin and redemption. This is a good place to start if you're new to SermonAudio.

The case AGAINST cursive is what happens when I try to write it.

BTW, this non-story about cursive seems to be taking its place with eliminating the penny as a slow-news-day staple.

Seems like a hoax to me. How could this information be verified even if someone did remember it? The questions are for people not born in the USA. Even in the USA, it would be next to impossible to verify records for natal care given by doctors who are retired or dead and who kept their practice's records on paper which is probably destroyed. How much harder would it be to verify these records in a foreign country?

Okay, other than the usual KJV-Only responses (you guys are just a tiny bit predictable), did anyone wonder about the blasphemous pun in the title? Did some liberal news editor choose this to see if they'd get a rise out of Christians, or did it not occur to anyone at MSNBC that trivializing the cross might possibly not be a good idea and offend someone who actually believes the cross is the means of salvation? I expect it's the latter, and these MSNBC people probably don't know anything about Christianity other than the cross is some kind of jewelry.

This is the same old formula for generating a non-story. Almost everyone does X. A few people experience Y. Therefore there is some connection between X and Y. But it isn't causal, or else everyone who does X would experience Y, but since there's a link, it's a non-story to fill the news cycle.

Almost all teen kids listen to pop music. A few teen kids are depressed. Therefore there is a link between pop music and depression.

Almost all humans use toothpaste. Pick anything you like. There is a link between toothpaste and whatever you picked. I've seen toothpaste linked to almost anything over the years.

Is someone selling a kit on how to produce these books? Seems like it's one after another now. Someone makes up some ridiculous claim. Then the media covers it. Then people buy the book because of the attention.

The only way to stop this is to quit paying attention to people who are following this script. Without attention, these books will be in the remainder bin in six months.

This would have been interesting if the article had told what this "forged" Bible actually was. What makes it "forged"?

What I don't like about Bell and his publisher is that the book industry has learned to manipulate Christians into buying a book just to "read and refute" it. Someone like Bell makes his gonzo comments, and the publisher creates an artificial controversy. More and more people get involved, and more people have to buy the book to know what it says in order to refute it. Every year or two, one of these "controversial" books comes out, almost following a script in how the publisher stirs up an artificial controversy. I imagine more people will buy this book to answer it than any other reason. If Christians would ignore these books, they'd be in the remainder bin in a few months. Do you even remember the last controversial book's title?
