If God had wanted animals to have rights, he wouldn't have made them to taste like meat. If God had wanted Rosie O'Donell to be a human, he wouldn't have made her look like a wart hog.

Jesus is the answer to my sin problem, frankly because I am asked to be "perfect, as my Heavenly Father is perfect" and in no way am I capable of that. Therefore, when I am bothered by a sin that I can't seem to control, I pray to Jesus to help we resist the temptations. But, sinners become attached to their sin and there is sometime struggle to 'want' to be free.

My Good Works: (1)The desire to perform these 'Good Works' was given to me by God, therefore, the good work is his not mine. (2) Jesus is the Master and I am his servant. Does a servant deserve a reward for doing his duty? No! A servant, does his duty and replies to his Lord, "I am your humble servant, doing only what was mine to do". (3) Good Works prove that our faith is a real, saving faith and not just 'head knowledge'. "faith without works is dead" [James 2:26].

Purgatory: Is an ancient belief of the early Church (read the Church Fathers). Purgatory, if it is a place or process or a time, is only for souls who have already won Heaven, but who are not yet "dressed properly" to attend the Wedding Feast.

DJC49: Are you perhaps implying that YOU don't have a "Sin Problem"? The only Solution to any sin problem is Jesus Christ. While men live, they are still sinners. But, you bring up an interesting truth. Part of any effort to avoid sin, requires an understanding of why you sin and what external factors lead you to fail. One also needs to commit to routing out the sin, and prayer for the ability to resist temptation.

Everyone needs a good education. Most problems are solved once they are fully understood. However, there are two kinds of educations: the education that leads you to appreciate how much you don't know, yet brings you to the truths of life, and the education that assumes that it has nothing left to learn thus bringing you to a state of unreality. Then the first type of education takes over.

What? Me worship idols? Heck No! I'm with the "Bible Beaters" of SA. I only worship the Lord God and the King James Bible, which God wrote, btw, in 16th century English, with only one ball point pen.

Neil: I am fascinated by all of your knowledge and suitably impressed, however, speaking WITH me rather than over-my head would help in our communication. At least define your terms.

My points are as follows:

How can the death of a generation be of any good?

If you really can't define the "Common good", then please...never run for public office; in fact, what useful good are you to anyone else?

Your point appears to be: That if 56% of Roman Catholics don't understand basic human decency and the fundamentals of Christian morality, then, we should change our ancient God given beliefs and join the barbarians? In other words, if your kids believe that Washington D.C. lies in France, then we move D.C. overseas! (This is a trick question, we all know that Washington D.C. would lie, where ever it was!)

Perhaps the priest's should blame their own teaching methods, or their own committment to the ideals of the faith. Perhaps it's a sign of the times that people will fail to believe the truth and follow immorality because its easier.

Neil: In what way are over 47 million aborted Americans likely to "turn out good in the end"? How many Einstein's, Salk's, Martin Luther King's, Albert Switzer's, Pavarotti's, and Mother Teresa's did we shred like so much trash? Is the "Common Good" so hard to discover? Ask youself, "Would I wish this on my Mother? My Children? Myself?

RtG: My wife says that I'm quite hansome; nothing so far from the Seeing-Eye dog though!

EA: How would you know if any of these monks are saved? Just because they don't go to your Church, you ASSUME that they are unsaved. If you really ARE Jesus Christ, and only then, would you know their status. By condeming them as UNSAVED, you are going against a direct command of Christ's, "Condemn not, lest you be condemned also". IMHO, you are very much like these monks. Alway trying to separate yourself from the sinner, always in a holier-than-thou position, and looking at your fellow Christians as a satanic enemy, worthy only of a good punch in the nose. One day I hope you will become a "mature Christian" and not just a partisan bomb-thrower.

EA: Says you! I follow the 2000 year old teachings of the Christian Churches founded by Jesus Christ and the 2000 year long earthly reign of the Apostles and the good men that they annointed to lead the real Church until Christ returns. Jesus himself says, "...the Gates of Hell shall not revail against it". The only time that the orginal, historical and Apostolic Church was ever threatened by apostacy to any great extent was the so called "Reformation", which as we have all seen, has only lead to a degradation and a fragmentation of the Christian witness. But, never fear, you are not responsible for this sin....Luther, Calvin, Knox, and Henry VIII have much much more to account for.

EA:"...which means 'to be faithful support or confirm'. The word amen actually means 'so be it' or 'truly'."

So...in other words...."I Believe".

FR: Along with you, I also am concerned about the clerg's "carelessness" at JY's Church. Perhaps this explains how JY can be so confused about his faith.

JY: Did it ever occur to you to cross over to the side where your priest is handing out the Eucharist or are such a child that someone must lead you around by the nose? When you say "Amen", you are saying "I Believe". So, do you understand the conflict between your beliefs and your actions? Your actions which are played out in the very face of God? How will you explain to your Eternal Judge, why you did something that you didn't believe? Do you think that God is such a fool that he won't notice your faithlessness and come down on you like a ton of bricks? You're playing Salvation roulette (see Russian roulette)!

EA: You are trying too hard to ignore the simple, common sense meaning of what is being said. In Matt 16:17, Christ is speaking as the builder ("I will build"), further Jesus changes Simon's name to Peter/Kepha, which is a pattern followed in the OT everytime that God chose a man to break with his worldly life and become his tool on earth. Protestant theology must go into some amazing convolutions in order to avoid 2000 years of true Christian teaching. Jesus gave the power to Peter to "bind and loose", so Peter allowed the infants to be baptised (Jesus said, "let the little ones come to me"). Infant baptism is a priviledge given by God to the Church, which incurs a responsibility that parents must bare. The "Washing of Regeneration" is baptism. Your notions of scripture are really missing the target!

EA: You seem to be confused or of an all too short memory. You asked for the Scripture that establised the office of Pope...this I gave you. Later, I said, that the title, only, was given by the people of God. You in your instant genius leaped to the incorrect conclusion that both title and office
were man-made. Is there a lack of protein in your diet? Infant Baptism has more support in the bible than does 'Sola Scriptura' (see Acts 2:38- ...to you and to your children...). Notice those scripture where the person's entire household was baptised.
Also, the practice of the early Christians was to baptise their infants, provided the parents agreed to follow the faith. Read the Church Fathers. See 1 Peter 3:21 - "...you are now saved by a baptismal bath...".

"I could go on and on and on."

MyResp: Max, you can and you do!

The word "Pope" is a title. It was given to the Pope by the people. It a form of the name Papa. How can a nick-name be a lie? It either appies or it doesn't. I don't explain Protestant doctrine...I wince at it!

EA: Certainly! See Matt 16:17-19. See also Isiah 22:22. The word "Pope" is right next to the word "Trinity", "Justification by faith alone", "Sola Scriptura", the biblical injunctions against: infant baptism, saying the Rosary, and close to where Jesus said, "I was only fooling in John 6...Ha Ha!".

Paperclip: Yes, we understand and we live by faith. Faith, Hope and Charity. But, only God knows all things, and we are extremely limited creatures. God spoke the word and the word became real physically. God's thoughts aren't our thoughts, his ways are not ours, and neither has he given us the totally knowledge that only he possesses.

I wonder who BT thinks were the early converts to Christianity? Or does he/she think that we merely raided Churches between Baptists and Methodists for 2000 years? While an understanding of the bible is a must, a compassion and a love for lost people is most in keeping with the ways that Christ would have us live.

If I can speak to the issue of BXVI being an ex-nazi, I think the "EX" part of that term speaks volumes. How many SA members served in the military and yet failed to support, in its entirity, the policies of the Govt of that military? How many members of SA have ever participated in an action that they later regreted...I believe that sin and sinners have something to do with this process. Lastly, BXVI's great predecessor, Saint Peter the first Pope, denied knowing Jesus three times. Perhaps there is something human about being a pope. Perhaps BT would be wise to recall this fact.
