Unbelievable (shaking my head) !!
Great post Chris...couldn't have said it better.
You are quite right, Dorcas that was a very bad example because I am an ex smoker and I've done the very thing I said to you all. When I quit in 1964 it was because I had come back to God and felt it was harmful to my body(temple of the Holy Spirit)I am so thankful I did because I had a cousin a few years younger than me that died of lung cancer a few years ago. I'm sure God is still working on me as a Christian and will not be perfected until I see Jesus face to face and then I will be perfected and only then.John UK that was in answer to your comment because you know me well enough to know I am not afraid to admit my errors.

As an ex smoker, I go around encouraging everyone to smoke all they can and as early as they can. If you've never tried it, you should do. There's nothing wrong with. It does not harm anyone. It's not even addictive and the pleasure it brings is unbelievable.
I am only saying all this because as a good Christian, in Dolores' book this is what I should be doing. Right Dolores?

Penny, amen sister. Everything you said rings true to my spirit and is a blessing and encouagement to me. You are right in that everyday, for a true Christian, is a day of thanksgiving.

John UK, I think you are right the maturing of a Christian is a process and some mature faster than others. I never realized the Holy Spirit actually lived within me. You see I was raised in a Baptist church and never heard much if anything about the Holy Spirit giving us power to live the christian life until I started reading Acts but anyway I still love the Lord the same as when I was younger. I know everybody that gets saved has to have been given the Holy Spirit or we couldn't live the Christian life.My mother was a much deeper Christian than my mother-in-law ever was and husband was closer to my mother than his own mother if you can believe that. So there you go.

These last posts by Dorcas, Penny and john UK is how I believe about the Holy Spirit which I experienced in 1965. It was different from my salvation experience. I was a weak Christian ( like Peter) but after this experience, like Peter and the others I felt closer to God than ever. I was no longer shy about witnessing as a matter of fact my sister told me that people lose their mind over religion. My mind was more sound than hers because in her world the things that mattered most was material things and having affairs to make her happy. My mother could not understand me either and felt no need to partake of this experience but no worry there because she was a deep Christian and loved the Lord. But this all happened long ago and I don't know anything about the newer charismatics. I heard David Wilkerson preach against churches giving false manifestism of the spirit by slithering on the floor and hissing like a snake and he cried because of it, ugh I wish I had the green face to put on here or purple, wharever.

John UK, I understand what you and others are saying and we do need to be alert to deceiving spirits in these last days and I do want to stay informed, one reason I joined SermonAudio. Thanks for your concern and please let me know when your painting comes up on the web.

Satan has a counterfeit for anything that pertains to God and His work and there is a reason for that. He wants to turn people away from the truths of God. I had an experience with God while attending a Pentecostal Chruch. I never once saw anyone roll on the floor or foam at the mouth. There were hands raised praising God some clapped hands and even had foot washing at times. I've ever seen anyone casting
out evil spirits. You can say I was deluded when I had this experience but no one can ever tell it wasn't real. Believe what you want to, scoff and make fun, it doesn't matter.Someone that has never had a tooth ache and someone tells this person that his tooth is hurting so bad that he wants to pull it out, of course the other guy is puzzled, doesn't understand and as a result thinks he is being a little strange side and maybe even disbelieve. Athesists do it all the time to Christians, you actually belive that stuff, they say. Yes, God did lead me out when we moved but the difference in me and others I took my experience with me into other places and through the Holy Spirit I led others that were hungry for more of God and they were filled also. I cannot explain it yet I know it's real and that's why it upsets me yet I understand why you feel the way you do because at one tim

MS,, you did not clarify it because you failed to give the whole story of why he said it. They were speaking in tongues without interpertation of what was said. They were out of order when they gave out some prophesy. You always had to have one or two more with that gift to confirm it. If Paul were to come to earth right now he would be more comfortable in a Pentecostall Church..he would feel right at home. Those that scoff and make fun of the gifts of God almost scare me because you are making fun of the Holy Spirit and you sound like the Pharisees when they accused Jesus of possessing the highest demon of all because He cast out demons, Belezabud( feeel free to correct me on the spelling I don't have time to look anything up, getting ready to go to Church) Baptist btw.

Hi Lurker, I know you mean well and all that and appreciate the fact that we each have our own beliefs and even scripture to back them up. I hesitate to add my two cents because I really don't want to debate it if someone has a different opinion than me that's fine, you maybe right and we'll never really know until Judgement Day for sure. The important thing Paul was saying was that spiritual gifts will not be needed always but love is the most important because it will be there in the here after when we no longer need the gifts. So we are to seek the greatest gift of all His love to love others with. Be blessed MS, Lurker and Gs.

Thank you Gs for the correction because I was going by memory of what I had read and glad you could clear it up for the folks that might want to know. Stand corrected and it's not the first time and I'm sure will not be the last

MS, why are you taking one verse out of context to suit you but leave out the rest of instructions to the spirtual gifts and how they were to be used. I am not a Pentecost but my husband'sfamily are and I know of one in the family that was a hyprocite, his father, the reason I know this is because of his fruits, he made passes toward me and I was afraid to be alone with him. My husband didn't seem to care when I told him. His brother is a preacher and the rest of the family seemed ok except his mother who had a mean spirit. Said all that to say, I saw truth in their belief in spite of a few that put on a fakey show when in the church services. But I see some in my church that I question their sincerity but who knows for sure, just an observation.

There are wheat and tares in every church, no exception.Paul said it was an UNKNOWN TONGUE that was a gift of the spirit and someone else had the gift of interpertation. In church you were not allowed to speak in tongues unless there was someone there that had the gift of interpertation to interperate what was said so that an unbeliever that should happen to be there should here just babbling and think you were mad or crazy. There were rules to be followed with these gifts. Paul healed Dorcus, the boy that was sitting in a window while he preached most of the night and fell asleep and fell out the window, Paul prayed for the boy and he was restored to life. Read Acts and you will see how the Spirit worked through them with miracles, healings etc. On the day of Pentecost is when all heard them speak in their own language and that was so everybody that gathered there where of different dialects. This got their attention because they each heard the message in their own language and knew it was a miracle. It never happened that way again. Read ICorlnthians 14:1-25 with an open mind if you want to know about tongues. Paul never once said tongues were wrong but wished all spoke in tongues as he did. It's still a prayer language for those who want it but for those who don't, well never fe

Mr.b, I have a friend, who calls him Obummer. I read a devotional every morning by C H Spurgeon, what a deep Christian he was, what a blessing he is even today. Gloria S.is no friend of women, never was..Jesus Christ and His teaching set women free Stienman put them back in bondage, the bondage of satan who works on destroying the family and nations, using people like Obama and Gloria to do his dirty work.

So sorry, Christopher. I thought you were talking about the crayon drawings like I've done in the past, a house with a tree beside it, sprigs of green grass, couple of flowers and a big yellow sun in a blue sky,in 3rd grade I think. Ha ha I found the video of the twins and it was precious. Thanks!

You are right, we are on the same page kinda. Actually I was speaking of other posts on other threads. It bothers me to see elderly people giving to certain tv evangelists who in turn, build big homes, drive expensive cars and own jets with the money they are given. But it's their choice to give where ever they want. You are right maybe it was different then and things have changed with Christians duties today compared to back then. Give to the poor and they turn around and give to the rich preachers. Not all do this but some.

I would love to have one of your paintings, John UK, seascapes are so serene and beautiful. I think of God's handiwork when I gaze on one. Don't you have a web site to order one from? Christopher, I am going to get on my computer and get this you tube video everyone thinks is so sweet. So you paint with crayons, how cool. But I'd rather have one by a real artist that I sorta know.
