Despite the restrictions made necessary by the continuing COVID-19 pandemic, the long-awaited renovation and addition to our church building has begun! We praise the Lord that legal permits and approvals were obtained. We are also blessed because the Lord has provided us with a Christian contractor, who is working with us to provide a successful and affordable project, which can be used to glorify the Lord and expand our Gospel impact on our community.
With the joy of seeing the work taking place each week, come also some temporary inconveniences. The work has limited the entrances that are available, and the removal of portions of the layout of the building curtail the use of the property until the expansion and renovation are completed.
Specifically, because the kitchen has been dismantled, and removal of some interior walls has increased the amount of dust, it is not practical or safe to prepare the elements for Communion at this time. So the Session has canceled the observance of the Lord's Table as of October 25, 2020, until it is safe to do so.
In addition, because one of the major elements of the renovation is removal and expansion of the rest rooms, we will not be able to meet for worship while they are not available. This will mean one or two weeks when all our worship services will be online. Details will be provided to the congregation when the contractor is able to give us the dates of that work.
We are now open for a limited in-person worship service each Sunday. The service time has temporarily been changed to 10:00am Sunday morning.
Those attending should arrive by 9:40 if possible to be allow time to be seated in the sanctuary. We continue to request mask use and social distancing, as ordered effective August 1, 2020 by Wisconsin Governor Evers.
We are grateful that we are able to gather together for worship, and hopefully other activities soon. Except as explained above, we ave resumed celebration of the Lord's Table at the church on the first Sunday of the month. The procedures are modified to keep any possiblity of transmssion of the virus to a minimum.
The congregation is being updated directly as modifications to our guidelines for meeting safely become possible.
Whether or not you can meet with us in person, many expenses continue for the church. If you are a member of the local Covenant family, and if you are not already doing so, please give as you are able at this time, based upon your current income level. Even if you cannot attend in person, you can still give by check, including a notation as to whether it is designated for General, Deacons, Building, etc. If you normally give to the Building Fund only when the special offering is taken, please send it in as a separate gift, because we have not been able to take up special offerings since March. Your offerings can be mailed to the church at any time. Thank you! This will be a great help, and we know the Lord will supply in His own way!
