1. The Blessing of God comes in different forms; it comes in paradoxes, in problems, in persecutions, in pressures and pain.
The blessing of God comes in ways that we think are detrimental. God could have blessed Jacob without wrestling him, but it would be have been blessing without humbling. God needed to humble Jacob first, before he could enjoy or appreciate the blessing.
2. The Blessing of God is for those who "hold on". Once we realize this we will be able to hold on to God as Jacob did. We will have faith to hold on until the Lord blesses is. If we have the faith to say with Jacob, “I will not let thee go” until thou bless me” then he will bless us and we will be blessed.
Jacob was willing to wrestle into the daylight (Vs. 26) and expose his weaknesses. There was nothing hidden now-all of Jacob’s pride is stripped from him and he holds on because he knows this is the only way to blessing.
3. The Blessing of God Changes everything. Everything is changed when God blesses us–changed in a way that might surprise us, that we don’t understand, or changed in a way that the world does not understand. a. A new name (character) b. A new humility (a limp) c. A new start ("as the sun arose upon him") d. A new testimony ("I have seen God face to face")
