Imagine trying to run whilst being weighed down by the general burdens that we carry, by attitudes or dispositions that we might have, by worldliness, where we think like a non-Christian. Looking for earthly success gets in the way of spiritual aims and priorities. Fear may be another weight that slows down our spiritual progress and prevents us from being bold and courageous. Covetousness may be another issue that gets in the way; jealousy; hatred and other things can drain away our spiritual resolve. So, endurance is needed. We have to be able to overcome our trials and obstacles. Endurance grows where there is faith and carefully follows the example of the Lord Jesus. Therefore, learn from Him.
