Examining Psalm 41:4-8, we find the reasons for the psalmist's past distress. He had sinned against God. He was chastened by God with a deadly sickness. The psalmist's enemies were hoping for his death. But worst of all, the psalmist's friend had turned against him. But in the midst of overwhelming odds, the psalmist, unable to do anything else, turned to God in prayer, and found His mercy sufficient for him. So will God's mercy be sufficient for us in our troubles, as well.
