The word “let” in this verse is what is known as a present imperative; or a command that we are to always follow. A great deal of our lacking in peace, especially the peace of God comes from us as Christians not following this order. But if we are to grow and become Giant Christians we must begin doing this. So what are we to ‘let'? That would be allowing the peace of God to rule or govern in our hearts (our thoughts, feelings, and mind). Often times though we allow the pressures of this life to call the shots in our lives instead. The peace of God will allow us to relax and not be so uptight. Also the word ‘peace' as used here means: quietness, rest, prosperity, or thriving conditions. The opposite of what we have when this world has the control in the place of God's peace. But this peace is not something you work up; no, this comes from the Holy Ghost. God is the author of this peace and wants to freely share with each of us.
