Will we trust and fear God in our day knowing that our God is with us? Or will we fear what this world fears? Isaiah and his disciples looked forward to the coming of Immanuel and His liberating reign in spite of popular opinion and bitter opposition. We too are called to put our trust in Immanuel and the outworking of His reign in human history rather than in any other power or idol. God's people are not to be intimidated by the threats and conspiracies of this world but instead bear witness to their hope in a King and a Kingdom that has already overcome the powers and calamities of this present world.
