They are those 'accepted in the beloved', not those who have, to use the modern phrase, accepted Jesus as their Savior. They are the 'effectually called', not merely all those who are generally called by the gospel and respond in some way. They are those 'sanctified by the Spirit', not merely all those with an outward profession and reformation of life. They are those 'given the precious faith of [God's] elect', not all and every sort of believer. This is very important."
