There are some practices that our neighbors can teach us that are good and helpful. For instance, the Indians taught the Pilgrims much that was valuable about the agriculture of the New World. Adopting these things is not necessarily bad. On the other hand, the Pilgrims knew well that what they should NOT be adopting were the religion and worship practices of the Indians!
The Lord warned His people on the verge of the promised land that if they adopted the worship practices of the Canaanites, no matter how insignificant they would eventually lead to more serious aberrations and eventually even Child Sacrifice!
