In Psalm 14 we read that God finds no good man, yet in Genesis 6 we read of a just and perfect man named Noah. The answer to this apparent dilemma is found in verse 8 where we read of the source of Noah's perfection - a gracious gift of God imputed through faith. It was not via works that Noah so walked, as is confirmed later in Hebrews 11. Yet Noah's life was not void of works, as faith without works is dead. His works of walking with God and his obedience to God are also gracious gifts of God that necessarily follow faith. The Biblical teaching of justification by faith alone does not make men careless and profane.
