SERMON INFO
God has chosen to work through the prayers of His people. Intercessory and personal prayer are channels through which God supplies the opportunities, means, and abilities for effective ministry.

As the apostle Paul draws out a lengthy conclusion to his lengthy letter to the Romans he emphasizes the matter of prayer. He asked the Roman believers to pray for him and his ministry. In doing so we learn that even he never assumed he did not need the intercession of other believers nor the benefits from prayer for his ministry to be most effective. It becomes clear that he believed that those who prayed for him were a part of his ministry and that the more people who prayed for him the more effective he could be.

As the focus of Paul's ministry was proclaiming the Gospel, his prayer requests centered on what he saw as necessary for him to be most effective. He saw his needs were to have the words to speak the Gospel clearly; for boldness to proclaim the Gospel fearlessly; and for open doors to carry the Gospel through. He knew his flesh and his fears could cause him to cower in the face of the opposition he faced, just like any one of ours.
