Paul's argument is that if the whole of our being is not redeemed through Christ's death and resurrection, which means that our physical bodies are raised from the dead, then nothing about us is redeemed. This is at the heart of the Gospel message--comprehensive redemption which necessitates the physical body rising from the dead. No other kind of redemption exists. Some of the Corinthians were deprecating the human body and exalting the spiritual aspect of man's being above his physical aspect, but when you deprecate the significance of the human body, you also deprecate the significance of the physical world and thus neutralize your effectiveness for the King--you are believing a lie that has been created by human imagination.
