Judah is called upon to mend their ways and their doings. Jeremiah calls for Judah to hear the word of the Lord. The Lord pronounces that if they will not amend their ways then the Lord will not hear their prayers but will cast them out as a people. This warning is one of many yet the Lord is long-suffering to Judah even though they had been unfaithful and unworthy. Such is the mercy of God as Jeremiah stands in the gate of the Temple, to call them that they may hear the Word of the Lord. They were told trust not in lying words, as the prophets , priest and leaders were speaking false-hood to them and they should listen to the true word of God.
