1. The name “Nimrod” can translate to – ‘We shall rebel’ – which suggests that he was behind the rebellion of Babel against God.
2. “A Mighty One on the earth” alludes to the evil and violent days before the flood. 6:4
3. He is known as being a “Mighty hunter” (think Esau).
4. “Before the Lord” echoes 6:11 – The earth was corrupt before the Lord.
5. Nimrod was a descendant of Ham through Cush. Canaan was the descendant of Ham that was cursed – 10:19
