12 So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? Jesus set an example for them by humbling Himself and washing their feet. It is not for us to do that today. We have two ordinances to follow: The Lord's Supper and Baptism. The feet washing example shows us the humility of Christ. Today some people in church want to be first in line for supper, the first one there for church, the boss. This behavior breaks up churches. We've seen it happen many times. If God puts us in a position of authority in your life, take the responsibility with humility and use it wisely. Don't carry a big stick. 13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. You should be humbled in a position where you have authority. There was a lot of strife among the disciples. That's why Jesus did this act. That is wrong. Don't jockey for position. 15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. Get over and above trying to be first and trying to be the best. Don't act with haughtiness and act like you're better than everybody else because you were made a boss or given a position of authority. Humble yourself more so in these positions than even as a follower. 16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him. This is the last 24 hours of Jesus' life. He is saying something very important here. The servant is never better than the boss, but the boss needn't act .......
