Dearly beloved congregation of our Lord Jesus Christ, Christianity is not a myth. We discussed that at length last week when we looked at Peter's account of the Transfiguration. We saw that Christ has definitively been clothed with glory as the Father's anointed Messianic Son, and that He will be returning to deal with things on this earth. But Peter goes on to tell us that his and the other apostles' sight of Christ's end-time glory is not the only evidence for Christ's return. In fact, the Transfiguration abundantly confirms the prophetic word too. And having mentioned the prophetic word, Peter gives four basic things about it. It's confirmed, commanding, enduring, and impelled by the Holy Spirit Himself. This discussion of the prophetic word will lead into the discussion of false prophets, and we will spend the next many weeks on that. But for today, you need to know the basics of prophecy so that you can listen to it.
