Phil 1:22 NKJV But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell. 23 For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better. 24 Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you. Paul knew that if the Lord allowed him to live on that it would mean fruit for his labour.

Jesus lived His whole life in submission to the Father and He lived the most fruitful life spiritually of any man that has ever walked this earth. If we are going to produce spiritual fruit for God's glory then I believe we need to be in submission to the Father.
