In this verse Paul tell of four vital characteristics that are necessary for effective Kingdom work. He describes how love acts in response to the challenges and trials of life. Firstly, love responds quickly to the need for support, cover and protection. It fills the gap without considering cost to self since the Kingdom is more highly regarded than self. Secondly, love believes all that God has revealed through His word and this kind of faith is inseparable from doing all that God has said. Thirdly, love's sure anchor in the soul is its hope and confidence in Christ's work and victory. Christ's resurrection guarantees our resurrection. And fourthly, love endures and keeps standing through all the turmoil and assaults of life--it does not turn back or give up.
