God is compassionate and merciful and we need to be grateful. This time when God said go, Jonah obeyed and went. However, Jonah did it with a horrible attitude. All of us have sinned miserably numerous amount of times. If we sinned just 3 times a day and live 75 years, we would have over 75,000 sins. When we stand before a perfect, Holy God, how can we justify that we should enter into His Heaven? God is Holy, Holy, Holy, while we are sinful people. Even when we are young we, at times, do not like the rules so that we make up our own rules. When we do so, we are acting in disobedience to our authorities. We need to remember that no authority can command what God forbids and forbid what God commands. We must be willing to suffer abuse and the consequences when we follow God against the rebellion of those who may be authority over us. Everyone wants to go to Heaven, but no one wants to die. The way we feel is not the best indicator of reality. We are loved, even if we don't feel like it. For God to say they did not know their right hand from their left, was a reference to little children. God says He cares about the little children in Nineveh as well as the animals there. God's compassion is especially strong towards the weak, those who cannot defend themselves. God cares about people, even those we may not care about. We need to believe the Good News and give God thanks and share the Gospel with others. |
