“ Listen to The Truth ”
These are true words from God. Listen! This world is turned upside down because when seekers ask what these words mean, they are told by liberal (and even some of those who profess to be reformed) churches that these words no longer apply, even as I was told, and I went away for many years from Christ thinking that God could not be there. Either we have faith in the word of God as had Abraham or we do not. Women are blessed by these words. Men are blessed by these words. Families, little children, are blessed by these words. Men and women in Christ are equally beloved by him. That is NOT to say that we are to follow our own order, but his, for he is our KING. He died to save us. Will he then command a thing that is not equal and good? Modern sensibilities cannot grasp this without the teaching of the Holy Spirit, and without the loss of pride. We will not obey the Lord if we do not love him. Do you love Christ Jesus? Do you trust him? Will you suffer with him? Will you reign with him? Will you obey him?

“ This is an hard saying; who can hear it? ”
In the sermon "A word about women from the King of the church," Reverend David Silversides preaches particularly on 1 Corinthians 14, verses 34 and 35: "(34) Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law. (35) And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church."  In keeping with "Old French silence", "c. 1200", women are to "keep silence", "muteness, state of being silent" or "absence of sound" in the body of Christ, the church (http://www.etymonline.com/sea rch?q=keep+silence).   In keeping with "late Old English predician, a loan word from Church Latin", women are forbidden "to preach, give a sermon",  "to proclaim publicly, announce", "to proclaim, to say", "to show" or to "pronounce solemnly" the Word of God "in front of, before" the body of Christ, the church (http://www.etymonline.com/wor d/preach)."  Nevertheless, Proverbs 31:1-31 are "(1) The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him."

“ Great Sermon! ”
Rev Silversides, Having written here two years ago, I must re-iterate that the result of female silence and submission in the churches today has resulted in gross sin on the part of men. Absolute power on the part of certain men has given them an evil sense of entitlement, arrogance and foolish belief that they must not listen to women. This has brought down a number of men and churches and the fact remains that men cannot handle the complete power you infer for them...I am therefore convinced that 1 Cor 14:34-35 is the word of the Judaizers: a question referred to in 1 Cor 7:1 that Paul is strongly rebuking in verse 36 'WHAT! CAME THE WORD OF GOD TO YOU ONLY?"...As I said before women have ALWAYS been independently approached by God and His angels from the beginning of the Bible, NEVER THROUGH any man...father, brother or husband. He knows no mediator but Christ. You can search the whole Bible to find such a woman and such a God...they never existed. It is high time the church let her women be free to serve God as He has called them to do...lest they seek to serve Him outside the camp, as Jesus also had to do. John 15:11-21 sets all believers free... "Ye have not chosen me, but I HAVE chosen you, and ORDAINED YOU...go and bring forth fruit”

“ Never Deny Christ ”
Evelyn, 1 Cor 14:35 refers to a husband within the Church of Christ. Though submitting to him in things that are lawful, the believing wife must never deny Christ at the behest of an unbelieving husband, but seek his conversion to Christ (1 Peter 3:1-2, 1 Cor 7:13). Submission to God-ordained authority never extends to doing what is sinful (Acts 4:19 & 5:29). If you deny Christ by returning to Islam.you are personally fully responsible before God and you cannot excuse it on the grounds of submission to your husband. "But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in Heaven" (Matt 10:33).

“ Great Sermon! ”
So glad that God has spoken to me through you...I have decided to ask my husband at home as God says in 1 Corinthians 14 and my husband has wisely told me to return to Islam. I am so much happier now that we both are back in the faith of my childhood! This is true wisdom from God and so thank you for this! We now get along much better...So this is a good scripture for me...

“ to Rev. Silversides ”
What use is theological understanding when half the church thinks they must refuse to listen? Hannah and Mary, Miriam and Huldah, and others preach to men daily out of the Bible. God has given them a pulpit in His Word. Surely then, God has not changed and as you say, God does not contradict Himself. Jesus knowingly sent the Samaritan woman as an apostle (one who is sent) to her people when He could have chosen a man and He chose Mary Magdalene to teach his disciples about the Resurrection. You cannot suggest that they were his second choice. Jesus went out of His way to meet the woman at the well. God's word does not CLEARLY prohibit women from preaching. That is the point. Jesus never silenced women nor instructed them to subject themselves to men in matters of the Holy Spirit. They belong to Him, bought with a price and He is their only Mediator. Paul admitted "not that we have dominion over your faith" and Peter said "not as being lords over God's heritage". They bowed to the greater authority of Jesus. Judith.

“ Response To Judie ”
Judie - I think I said that a woman may be theologically gifted but that does not mean she is called to preach. Theological understanding has far more uses than publicly preaching to others. Our asessment of another's gifts is fallible and God does not call anyone contrary to His infallible Word which clearly prohibits women from preaching. The Scriptural use of her talents must lie in a different direction since God does not contradict Himself. The final authority must be the Scriptures. David.

“ Interesting and inventive ”
Rev. Silversides, I am a bit confused by your admission that God has gifted women both as preachers and theologically and nevertheless requires their absolute silence in the church. Why do you think God has given women these gifts? It just seems to fly in the face of Jesus command in the parable of the talents and leaves women completely flummoxed wondering how to deal with the dichotomy that they are condemned by God for not using their talents and condemned by you for using them. Oh but you also said I am also not permitted to ask questions and my husband does not attend church...what to do! What is your solution?

“ Just what we needed to hear ! ”
Naomi and myself have been looking for a spiritual home, and attended two different local churches recently, where we thought we could belong- lovely saints, great preaching, etc. ! In both churches however,we were stunned to find at the prayer meetings that the sisters prayed audibly . We thought this unscriptual, but maybe thought that we had it wrong and were too judgmental. A dear brother (Tom) pointed out this sermon, and it proved ,in providence, the answer to our questions on this matter. Thankyou Bro Silversides for faithful preaching. I met you once when you were at the T.B.S. i was the cleaner ther at the time , and i also have read your book on the free offer of the gospel, which was beneficial as well,as i am involved in street evangelism. May the Lord bless your ministry brother Silversides.
