How should Christians answer their accusers ? The apostle Paul is a good example
1) THE ACCUSATIONS PAUL FACED
v 7 The Jews "laid many and grievous complaints against Paul... "
Complaints were: i) Numerous ii) Grievous iii) Gratuitous Are you a new Christian ? It's "part of the package" to suffer for the Lord. The Lord said in Acts 9:16, concerning Paul, " For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for My Name's sake."
2) THE ANSWER PAUL GAVE v8
i) Personal - no legal team- he answered for himself - he needed God's Wisdom. When in tight situations and people try to trap us in our words - "be ready always to give an answer..." (1st Pet 3:15)
The Lord said in Matt 10:19 "it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. "
ii)Effectual - He had the Lord with him - he was composed and put to silence their foolishness - think of Luther, Latimer, Ridley - their enemies likewise could give no rational answer
3) THE APPEAL PAUL PRESENTED v 10-12
i)Decidedly - Paul knew his rights - his mind was made up
ii) Suddenly - Festus was going to make a political decision to please the Jews but Paul suddenly interjected
iii) Ominously - Festus was dumbfounded - sometimes the ungodly outdo themselves !
Dear unsaved one - another court will be set up - the Judge will be impartial and honest - He is the Lord Jesus - there is no court of appeal- while there is time, flee from the wrath to come !
