We live in a good part of the world for vines. I have two vines in my garden which are just starting. They were planted last year in a poor location. I now have them in a sunny spot. At communion we drink of the fruit of the vine. It is a symbol of the sufferings of the Lord Jesus for His church. This is a most appropriate analogy for there are many things about the vine which can teach us of Christ's work and ways with us. There is the imperative of our Union. We must have the life of the Lord Jesus flowing in us. This is the secret of Christian living - Union with the Lord Jesus.
