The last part of Chapter 1:3 concludes the writers thesis of Christ's supremacy by declaring that the reason that Christ sustains the universe is for the end of purifying His people from their sins. This imagery harkens back to the sacrifice on the Day of Atonement which served as a universal purification for the whole of God's people. But Christ is superior because the universal atonement He brings is final and forever. So then resting in His salvific work as priest, Christ is both glorified as the Father's right hand at the throne of heaven where He continues His priestly work of intercession on our behalf before the Father.
