Some in conservatives circles of the reformed and presbyterian branch of the Church have encouraged Christians to rest in the Westminster Standards since there are so many errors today, all claiming to come from the Bible. This reasoning says that since all interpret the Bible, it is not the Bible itself but the interpretation that is the real authority, the recommendation of relying on the Westminster documents.
Although we regard highly the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms (they are our own confession before God), we must add quickly and certainly that we regard them so highly because we regard the Bible higher! They are subordinate to the Scriptures. So here in Acts 17:11 we find:
I. The Christian's Authority
II. The Christian's Action
We also quote from some early Church Fathers, Luther and George Gillespie on this issue.
