This morning our focus will be on Gen. 12:10-20. It is a story of famine and fear, danger and deception, blessing and curse. But most importantly I believe this story is a reminder that God's shows His glory not just in the blessings we receive but in His faithfulness to His covenant promises. We cannot just simply look at our own circumstances. Instead we must carefully consider how God has brought us to saving faith, how He continues His work of salvation in our lives, and how God continues to expand His kingdom even through the very dark days in which we live. We will look at this story in three sections: 1. Seeking God does not mean the absence of difficulty and danger, v. 10-13 2. Even good plans may fail, v. 14-16 3. The LORD will defend His covenant promises and people, v. 17-20.
