When you stand before the mirror, you must first understand the meaning and purpose of clothing. For many weeks in Romans, we have been examining the doctrine of justification by faith. Justification is a judicial act whereby God declares the sinner righteous, covers his sin and shame and nakedness through the substitutionary atonement of Christ. This is why the scriptures teach that physical garments are a type of spiritual garments. Our clothing is a picture of the substitutionary atonement of Jesus Christ. The beginning of clothing is the beginning of the gospel. Whenever you stand before a mirror it is important that you know what you are doing and what clothing was meant to represent.
