God has made us all to be inquisitive. There are some that like to gossip here and there, not to maliciously hurt someone, but simple because they like to talk. Then there are talebearers, and tattlers in this world that have a hatred for God and His people and it would give them great joy to hear just one more thing that they could twist. What makes a great lie is one that is seasoned in truth. As the saying goes "Even a truth that's told with bad intent beats all the lies one can invent" When the serpent came to Eve in the garden he told her something that she hadn't heard but yet something extremely familar. He said the exact same thing but added one word. That one word changed the whole message. That's how effective a talebearer can be.
