God created light (Gen. 1:3). Darkness is not an entity in and of itself, it is simply the condition that exists in the absence of light. God brings light to mankind. It is man who rejects it (Jn. 3:19).
Plato wrote: 'We can forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.' The answer to why men fear the light is itself exposed in the passage below.
The apostle John wrote:
19 'And this is the judgment, that the light is come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the light; for their deeds were evil. 20 'For everyone who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 'But he who practices the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God.' John 3:19-21
