In this section of John's gospel we come to the end of Jesus' public ministry to the Jewish people, His own people. There is some debate on the closing verses of chapter 12, whether they are a separate day of ministry or a summary of the three years of the Lord's ministry. I am inclined to think that verses 44 – 50 are a separate day and the final day of public ministry for the Lord.
