How Does God Regenerate Us? The answer is given three ways in our passage. First, God caused us to be born again by Christ’s resurrection from the dead: “hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead” - 1 Peter 1:3. Second, in 1 Peter 1:23 it says God caused us to be born again, “by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” Furthermore, the passage states that, God called us via this method “as He which hath called you”- 1 Peter 1:15. And finally, in 1 Peter 1:18 it says that God redeemed, or ransomed us from the futile ways inherited from our forefathers. “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, . . . received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ” – 1 Peter 1:18-19a. So we can see that Peter is writing to remind his audience of the amazing new live they possess in Christ.
