How can it be that You are not jealous for what is yours? Answer: last word of vs. 15 "restrained". vs. 17 Question: Why have you cuased us to err and why have you hardened our heart? This question is answered next. II. Facts stated and considered. Consider the stuff God is working with (here is real biblical anthropology). This passage summons us to consider fallen human nature. Leads to the doctrine of HUMAN INABILITY as well as DIVINE PASSIVITY. both facts need to be stated and considered. III. Established believers ( Romans 1:11; 16:25 probably the reason Romans was written--to establish believers. Not all believers are established. Better, unless you understand Romans you are not an established believer.) receive the truth of scripture without flinching. "Be careful how you treat God, my friend." D.M. Lloyd-Jones 1959
