Now that we have considered how God unites us with Christ by His Spirit and all the spiritual blessings we have because of our union with Christ, what shall we do? How then shall we live? The answer from God’s Word is that we are to live in Christ or as v6 puts it, walk in him. That was Paul’s message to the believers in Colossae who had been brought into Union with Christ. So the title of the sermon today is “Live in Christ”. As we consider what it means to “Live in Christ”, there will be three points to the sermon outline – the call, the warning, and the resources.
So first, let us notice… 1) The Call – Center Your Life on Christ – v6-7 2) The Warning – Don’t be taken captive by worldly wisdom – v8 3) The Resources that we have in Christ – v9-15.
To encourage us to live in Christ, Paul lays out the resources we have in union with Christ. I will point out three resources from this passage.
In Christ we have… a) Everything we need to know God and become like Him – v9-10. b) New life with the power to live in victory over sin and Satan – v11-12 c) Forgiveness of sins to silence all accusations from the enemy – v13-15
