What a remarkable contrast to the where we left off last week in Exodus 24. God and his people were enjoying fellowship on the mountain... the 70 elders of the tribes of Israel saw God and didn't die... they ate and drink before him.
Here in Exodus 32 Israel rebels against the Lord their God. They doubt Moses is still alive and have Aaron construct an idol, the Golden Calf. God is going to destroy the people, but Moses intercedes on there behalf, much the same way as Christ intercedes and makes atonement for our sins. Interesting passage.
