In this section of verses, Paul urgest Timothy to pray in the broadest scope, for mankind. He then urges prayers for leaders and rulers, which seems to be a command that is not confined to that culture and period of time. Why? Prayers for rulers leads to peace, which is helpful in spreading the gospel! And Paul makes it clear that God wants all men to be saved. Do we "live it up" or "live it out" in times of peace? Do we regularly pray for our leaders, even those we didn't vote for? It is also clear from this passage that salvation is through no other than Jesus.
