A crucial message expounding Paul's warning to the Corinthians not to be idolaters in the way the children of Israel were in the account at Sinai, when they fashioned a golden calf and named it "Jehovah." Israel's sin at that time was not in turning aside to other gods; it was in redefining the true God of the Bible in terms that better suited them and their lusts. Many Christians today do the same thing, by redefining God in their own terms or in ways that suits their personal agenda. This is why Paul also warned the same church in 2 Corinthians 11:2-4 against receiving “another Jesus.”
