"Finally, we come to the crux of the Olivet Discourse: Jesus is coming, so be ready. Four times here the Lord says to be 'awake.' So the question is, are we awake? Jesus is coming, but is there something in this world making you spiritually drowsy, so that you are not fully awake, sober-minded and ready for the increasingly turbulent times ahead and his return? It is the trials and uncertainties of our day? Is it treasured pleasures or temporary comforts that are making us spiritually sleepy? Friends I hope not. I pray not. Romans 13:11 says 'You know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.' Time is short friends. Let us use our days to be awake and ready for that moment when the sky splits open with the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ and he returns."
