We cannot always distinguish between the wheat and the weeds in this age. But a day is coming when that distinction will be made. The harvest will take place, the wheat will be gathered into God’s barn, and the weeds will be burned. We are not enter final judgment of those in the world. It is premature in this life for us to write off false Christians as weeds that have no possibility of redemption. However, we should examine ourselves as to whether we are true disciples of Jesus Christ or not. We should be careful to make our “calling and election sure”(2 Peter 1:10). Are you really a born again Christian, a wholehearted disciple of Jesus? It is radical. Do your beliefs go down to the roots of who you are? Are you thorough-going in your commitment to Jesus? It is not a pick and choose commitment! It is not picking and choosing the areas in which we will submit to the authority of Jesus Christ. That is the salad bar Christian. Salad bar Christians are not genuine. They are weeds.
