It's not every day that the Ark of the Covenant appears in a harvest field! And certainly not resting on a cart pulled by two crying cows!
On the one occasion in history when this did happen, the Arks' appearance ignited immense joy.
1 Samuel 6:13 gives us a beautiful snapshot of the scene (it resembles one of those idyllic postcards): “And they of Bethshemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley: and they lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark, and rejoiced to see it.”
From this dramatic incident a number of useful lessons emerge about:
