"...But the one that raised the most ruckus among her die-hard fans was the one which proved to be true: Jennifer Knapp is gay. This week Knapp burst back onto the music scene with news of a comeback and a coming out. Her new album will be released in May, and she has revealed that she has been in a same-sex relationship for the past eight years..." (http://www.sermonaudio.com/new_details.asp?ID=29268)
As we continue in this cultural fall, when will Christians learn to stop flirting with worldliness? So many Christians want to be "hip" and "cool" and push the line, and have their rock and pop music, with the rebellious attitudes and dress (or undress). They want to pretend that God does not mind women and men wearing each other's clothes, He is only against homosexuality. But when will we realize that God is against even looking at the wine, not just drunkenness; and He is against going near the strange woman's house, not just fornication, etc. He hates the proud look, not just the other evil things associated with pride.
And finally, when will pastors start being clear about the Judgment Seat of Christ for Christians? Many will respond to Knapp by saying that she never was really saved. I don't know anything about what she believes, or whether or not she believes the Gospel concerning eternal salvation. But what we really need to realize is that many believe the Gospel, but will not confess Jesus in the "synagogues" or deny their worldly pleasures, because they have been told that there is no judgment for Christians. It is true that we are eternally secure in Christ. It is true that we are saved through faith by God's grace, on the basis of the Blood of Jesus. However, God has made it clear that His coming judgment begins at the house of God! There is terror of the Lord for some believers (2 Cor. 5:9-11). Jesus will cut some asunder, and there will be outer darkness to slothful servants. If this true message was taught by pastors, I am sure things would be different. There would be more gravity, sobriety and trembling. But most preachers of America have rejected this purifying message. It is time for individual Christians to hold their pastors accountable concerning the warning passages to the saints.
Knapp needs to know that she is NOT being honest with herself or God. She is pretending that she is simply being herself. In fact, she is simply refusing to obey desires, and she is pretending that these desires cannot be resisted by the grace of Jesus. If she is a believer, she has an old flesh, and a new man in Christ. She can walk by the new man, in Jesus; she is a new creature. She does not have to obey the lusts of the perverted flesh.
