I am often asked these questions, “How do I know if I have believed?” and “How do I know if I have real saving faith?”

1. Saving faith rests only in Christ. High or low, happy or sad, well or sick, or living or dying Christ is my hope.

I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name

2. Saving faith comes from the heart. “For with the heat man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:10)

3. Saving faith reigns over all I am and all I do. Show me a faith without works and I will show you a faithless faith.

4. Saving faith prays. “Because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts crying, Abba Father.” (Galatians 4:6) He prays because he has need. He prays because he is thankful and he prays because he has access to the Father.

5. Saving faith is obedient to the commands of Christ. Repentance, faith, baptism, the Lord’s Table, and worship are not options to a believer.

6. Saving faith is continuous. “Faith cometh”

7. Saving faith rejoices in Christ. “But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.” (Hebrews 3:6)

8. Saving faith never quits. “They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: But they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.” (I John 2:19)
