Rehearsing All That God Has Done

In Acts chapter 14 much takes place towards and upon the people and church of God. We notice that wherever the gospel goes so does trouble, trial and true conversion. We see also the necessity of Gods' people remaining faithful at any cost and regardless of the cost.

Next we read of the lovely old story and illustration of how our redeemer saves His people from their sins in the lesson of the cripple, and then of the need to 'confirm' those who have tasted that the Lord is gracious. Finally, we behold the 'conclusion of the whole matter'! That is to say, how are we going to stand up under such trials, hardships and remain faithful to Him who called us?

How can I as a pastor hope to help the sheep of His fold and confirm such wonderful things as have been believed? Will I remain faithful to the work that He has given me in this generation? Will I fail, will I fall, will I carry on? Oh, tried, troubled and weary saint, look with me at this conclusion in verse 27 of our text: How, why and when? “They rehearsed all that GOD HAD DONE . . .”

Yes, this is how we do stand, this is why we can stand and this is when we will stand . . .God has done it! May I, May you and all the people of His choice stand right here, rest right here and move no further. I venture to say that all things needful to every child of grace is found here, in Him who loves us and gave His blessed Son for us. Look and Live
