The person who says, “I am saved by grace alone and it does not matter how I talk, walk, or conduct my life,” is a fool and neither understands nor loves the grace of God. Our union with the Lord Jesus not only justifies and sanctifies us before the law of God and the court of heaven, but that same regenerating union implants within and imparts unto us A NEW NATURE which delights in the principles and actions of holiness.

One cannot separate the blessings of Christ from the indwelling presence of Christ. “He that LOVETH not KNOWETH not!” Learning the doctrine will not produce a new creature, but “learning Christ” will!

GOD IS NO RESPECTER OF PERSONS

When Peter came to preach to the Gentiles that Cornelius gathered to hear the gospel, Peter came to the conclusion that “God is no respecter of persons.” (Acts 10:34)

God is no respecter of persons is a discouragement to the self-righteous. God is no respecter of persons means that nothing we do will make God more likely to save or bless us. God does not respect our works (before or after conversion) God only respects Christ. God does not have any respect to our morality, God only respects Christ. God does not respect our good doctrine, God only respects Christ. God will reject us completely if we try to come to Him on any ground other than Christ alone.

God is no respecter of persons is also a blessed encouragement to the guilty sinner. Nothing we do or don’t do impresses God enough to make Him save or bless us. This is also true: nothing we do or don’t do will make God reject us either…as long as we come to God in Christ. God saves, accepts, and blesses the worst of sinners in Christ because of who Christ is and what Christ has done not who we are and what we have done. If you are a sinner come to God in Christ right now! The songwriter said:

Let not conscience make you linger,
Nor of fitness fondly dream;
All the fitness He requireth
Is to feel your need of Him.

Every sermon sent by God Almighty through His means of revelation to His people, the preaching of the Gospel, finds Christ Jesus as its only subject. Only in rightly hearing of Him does a redeemed and regenerated sinner find comfort for his soul. If the Scriptures are preached aright, according to the word of the Lord to two on the road to Emmaus in Luke 24, beginning at Moses and all the prophets, the message will set forth His glory, His work, and His honor….in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself will be the only declaration.
