We will have a church dinner to celebrate Julie Thornbury’s 40th birthday after the service next Sunday. A food sign up sheet is in the vestibule.

GOD DOES NOT SEE INIQUITY IN HIS PEOPLE

“He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel” (Numbers 23:21)

Every son of Adam is nothing but sin. If we are honest, all we see in ourselves is sin. Then why does God, who sees everything exactly as it is, say that He doesn’t see iniquity in His people? Because HE TOOK THE SIN OF HIS PEOPLE AWAY IN CHRIST. Christ was made sin for His people in such reality that there is no sin left in them – Christ took it all away. The sacrifice of Christ for the sin of His people put their sin away so completely, in such current reality, that there is no iniquity left in them. The Father does not behold iniquity in His people because there is no sin to see – Christ has taken it all away and removed it by the blood of His sacrifice.

God did His worst to His Son to give His people His best.

Pastor Chris Cunningham

Here I Stand

Here I stand, I can do no other! Let others waver, compromise, or cover; but I preach what Spurgeon, Luther, Calvin, Augustine, Paul, the apostles, and the prophets preached; “Salvation is of the Lord.”

Christ died in the stead of His people; and, as God is just, He will not and cannot punish one soul of Adam’s race for whom Christ died. There is not one sin in the book of God against any believer. Our sins were laid on Him, the law is honored, the justice of God satisfied; and, inasmuch as sin condemned Him, sin cannot condemn us!

This is my hope, comfort, and my security; that all my sins, transgressions, and iniquities were atoned for before they were even committed! This, indeed, is good news for the guilty!

Pastor Henry Mahan

The Goodness And Severity Of God

“Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off (Rom. 11:22).

The apostle Paul declares unto us two very distinct and sovereign characters of our great God and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Behold the goodness of God, The Lord is good. Everything about Him is good; there is no evil in Him, there is none good but God (Matt. 19:17). All His actions are good; He never does one thing wrong, but rather all things are righteously done (Gen. 18:25). The Lord saves sinners by His sovereign goodness and mercy in Christ (Psalm 51:1-4; Rom. 9:13-16). The Psalmist said, “O taste and see the Lord is good” (Psalm 34:8).

Behold the severity of God; the Lord is also severe in His righteous wrath and His holy anger. His anger against the wicked is His holiness stirred into activity against sin (Psalm 5:5; 7:11). Every attribute of God reflects His holy nature; His love, mercy and grace are never displayed apart from His holy justice being honored. God is love but let us not forget God is holy too (Isa. 6:1; John 3:36).
