Lord I believe, help thou mine unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)

Before this man believed, he was not aware of his unbelief. It was not until he believed that he saw the power of his unbelief. This is the continued cry of the believer, “Lord, I believe.” The new man believes. He cannot not believe and it is the new man that is painfully aware of the unbelief of the old man, “Help thou mine unbelief.” I cannot do anything about it, and I am asking you to help me!” The new man always believes and the old man never does. But there will be no unbelief in heaven because the old man will not be there. He was condemned and put away on the cross, and in heaven the believer will never have to deal with him again.

Training a Child in The Way They Should Go

The “Experts” tell us that the way to build our children's self-esteem is by telling them how wonderful they are (even when they're bad), always rewarding them (even when they are lazy); and withholding discipline (even when they disrespect authority). It should be no surprise that we have raised a generation of self-absorbed brats with an entitlement mentality. Truth is, self-esteem is the by-product of good decisions, hard work, and showing a genuine interest in and respect for others. Teach your children by example, precept, and correction to choose right over wrong, to respect others (especially authority), and to work hard. Then, they will grow up feeling good about themselves. Parenting is hard work. It will keep you on your knees. Reject the wisdom of this world. May the Lord give us the grace to do it His way.

In the end, ‘the way they should go’, is to Christ. Here is where our God given responsibility must not falter. If the Lord is pleased to save our children, He will use the preaching of the gospel to do it. There is no greater thing we can do for our children than to have them in public worship. May God give us the grace to make this THE priority in our homes. Don’t wait for your child to want to come to church. Train them from infancy and trust God that they ‘will not depart from it’. Remember, “faith comes by hearing”. Always have them where they can hear and pray the Lord will give them ears to hear.

For on that day shall the priest make an atonement for you, to cleanse you, that ye may be clean from all your sins before the Lord. Leviticus 16:30

My dear friends read this verse of scripture and humble yourself before the Lord and believe it. Christ Jesus, the priest of God's own choosing has already made atonement for you if you believe on him for it. Would you be clean from all your sins before God? (Oh! My soul, think of such a thing!) Jesus has already made the atonement, believe Him, simply believe him. Don't move a muscle until you believe Jesus Christ. He made atonement by pouring out his own blood. Read this verse and re-read it until your spirit is illuminated with the light of it and you are made to know you live through this atonement.
