Christians in Nigeria 'expect to be attacked at Christmas'
All Nigerians are living in fear of attacks and kidnappings, says Open Doors' Illia Djadi, but for Christians being consistently targeted by Islamist radicals, Christmas is an especially anxious time.
And there's good reason to be anxious after a new report from one NGO said at least 2,200 Christians had been killed in 2020 alone by radicalized Fulani herdsmen and terrorist group Boko Haram.
In another indication of how unsafe Nigeria has become, over 330 boys were abducted just last week from their school in Katsina state.
Hundreds were released a few days later but it's a "tragic reminder" of previous mass abductions, says Djadi, like the 276 mostly Christian schoolgirls taken from Chibok in 2014 and a further 110 in Dapchi in 2018....
We do have a president elect who warned that dark days were ahead. Old Biden ran a campaign saying he was the hope and light. Goes to Mass each week. That said- there isn’t any leader put in place that God hasn’t ordained. And that’s how I’ve gotten through this monstrosity of an election. Because God sovereign, we of all men should have hope. Chasing after the burnt oil light of our country and all the deceit and deception should never be a substitute for the loving arms of a good and gracious Lord God. Biden loves China, but we will serve the Lord.
My family & I were in a large city church for Christmas Eve where we'd worshipped occasionally prior to COVID shutdowns. We were surprised to note several city police officers in uniform and fully equipped standing by the entrance. One was on the street out front as we left like a greeter. So it's not just Nigeria where folks feel threatened. The threat may be larger there, but that was something new for us.
There's no money to be made in Nigeria, no worldly government will care, nothing new here🤷, Santa Claus don't fly there, but, the church will though Sermonaudio is already making an impact with their sermons. I'll pray for Nigeria with my church family.
I cannot wait for the opportunity to serve the Lord and make a difference to the believers of Nigeria 🇳🇬.
"Jihadist Fulani Herdsmen accounted for 7,400 murders of Christians. Boko Haram committed 4000 killings of Christians. ‘Highway Bandits’ who separated Christians from Muslims on buses and then killed the Christians committed over 200 murders.
"Fulani Jihadists are now the world’s deadliest terrorist group. Five Nigerian Christians are massacred every day by Fulani and Boko Haram Jihadists."
