Americans increasingly comfortable with church defiance of COVID-19 restrictions
A new survey reveals that the American public is much more accepting of churches defying coronavirus lockdowns than they were when the pandemic first broke out in March.

Paul Djupe, an affiliated scholar with the Public Religion Research Institute, and Ryan Burge, a political science professor at Eastern Illinois University, collaborated on a survey asking 1,750 Americans for their views about the coronavirus pandemic in October. They had previously collaborated on a coronavirus-related survey in March, when they spoke to 3,100 Americans.

When asked if they agreed with the statement, “If the government told us to stop gathering in person for worship I would want my congregation to defy the order,” 34% of respondents who participated in the October survey agreed (with 16% strongly agreeing). By contrast, 21.8% of Americans surveyed in March said that they agreed (with 10.7% strongly agreeing) ...

Perhaps brethren we should not be asking the state for permission to exist by organizing as 501c3 entities. Have we become harlots of the state? God gives us the right to exist and he is our ultimate authority. .We answer not to tyrannical civil magistrates but to our King. Defy this evil upon our land. Stand and fight ye men of God. Our governments are at war with us.

Jim thinks he’s so suave when he tells his mom, “Kool-Aid. Shaken, not stirred.”

Jim/Lincoln, why are you complaining about drinking Kool-Aid? I thought it was your favorite refreshment. Your concern for the “community” is noted. Not believed, but noted.

Perhaps more people are willing to let church members drink the Kool-Aid. However the majority, apparently large majority of the people in the poll are against it. Of course these church members are carrying out a foolish practice, but unfortunately it was shown here and abroad (e.g. South Korea) that this virus doesn't stay with church members but is carried out in the community to infect other people. It is just plain thoughtless on these church members' part

Ooooh, look. Another survey. Now isn't that so interesting. I could cry with joy. It will be a sad day when surveys have to cease. Whatever will we do without them?

What I would like to read up on is why the IFB churches have split apart, and now we have the New IFB denomination, which has already split asunder because of disagreements with the man leading the charge. They think he is being too forceful and demanding.

And then they accuse ME of being divisive. Hypocrite.

If people can go to Home Depot every weekend and wander for an hour and shimmy down the tool isle without getting Covid, all hours of the day till 10 pm closing. Then how can anyone as an elected representative think that keeping churches closed is not discriminating against people of faith.
So please. wash your hands, and go to church to worship the Lord.

God has ordained my right to make health decisions for myself and has permitted me the rights to freely breath. No man may take away my God ordained or permitted rights.

People generally believe that they can do what they wish to do. But they leave God out of the equation. What I'm saying is that nobody can do what they wish to do, without the sovereign Lord permitting or ordaining it.
