Democrats say Republicans will regret Barrett confirmation, slam 'manipulation' of Supreme Court
Shortly after Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday, Democrats warned Republicans that they would regret their decision to hold a vote so closely to an election.

"The Republican majority is lighting its credibility on fire ... The next time the American people give Democrats a majority in this chamber, you will have forfeited the right to tell us how to run that majority," Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said during a floor speech Monday.

Piper is an extremely solid dude. I’m not sure who Rick warren is but whoever he is I don’t think it was up to piper to say he’s a believer, or us, but GOD.

Well, One, I don’t know you , but my point is , I’m quite tired of anyone, no matter , their station in life, to speak to people whom they do not know , to give advice too, or share to a broad audience. I think pastors need to speak to their congregation, congressman or women need to speak to their constituents.
In a broader sense, the local church has suffered greatly from megaphone pastors. A megaphone pastor actually can cause more divisiveness in a local church, as members will be caught up in sermons or opinions and lean towards the megaphone pastor and not be willing to be guided by their own pastor. So my opinion is basically that we should all go back to our own church and be discipled and corrected when need be, out of the love of our pastor, brothers and sisters in Christ- known as the local church. That’s all, for now.

I would encourage you to be very careful about speaking/commenting that way against Pastors. Actually, I'd strongly advise against it. Having read a recent article by Piper, I will say he did not tell anyone how to vote, nor did I get the impression he was voting for Biden. I got the impression he was voting for neither. I am glad he shared how he thought through a difficult decision.
Since you seem to support Piper, let me briefly say why I don’t. Piper has publicly acknowledged that Rick Warren is a born again believer and actually invited him to his home church to speak. It is my thought that anyone who can dummy down the gospel to include an obvious heretic like Warren should at a minimum be ignored until he publicly repents. IOW, anyone that is guilty of a clear heresy and teaches it to others should be separated from. Separation is a biblical doctrine and doesn’t imply they aren’t saved. To me it means I don’t listen to his sermons or read his writings anymore. And of course I will say nothing good about Piper and could care less what he thinks.

John Piper, David Platt and probably a whole bunch of the mini popes in the “ pseudo Baptist church world “, are telling people that Christians in the US need to be real careful in voting for a president that promises conservative judges and is a rude, speaks in debaucharious terms, and is a bad fit for good company, better to vote for a descent fair minded politician like Biden.
My congressional representative is Jody Arrington. He represents my district and the citizens of my district. These yahoo preachers and politicians have some nerve to tell me and mine how I should think, vote or live. If I wanted a crazy uncle as my preacher, I’d go to my crazy uncle’s church, I don’t need to reach out to one from Bethlehem Baptist church.

Brownstein, Jim, and many others, are sadly mistaken, and very short-sighted. Is not a political issue! This is about preserving the rights of Americans that many of our forefathers have died for. If this looks to you simply like an issue of Republicans and Democrats fighting against each other, you have no clue what is going on!

Presidents have the right and obligation to nominate judges as long as they are president. He's elected for 4 years, not 3 years and some months. If one side or the other of the Senate opposes the nomination, they can decide not to consent. If they have the vote. The Dems didn't want Barrett because she apparently is not one who thinks the Court has the right to make legislation. They wanted a political judge, a legislative judge. Too bad. When Obama nominated a judge to the SC in his last year as president, the Repubs said no, because they said the next president should nominate the judge. The Dems were offended then. Both sides play the game.

Carl, it sounds familiar all right âť—đź‘Ž

Ronald Brownstein wrote:
Every young conservative judge that the GOP has stacked onto the federal courts amounts to a sandbag against that rising demographic wave. Trump’s nominations to the Supreme Court of Brett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch, and Barrett—whom a slim majority of Republican senators appears determined to seat by Election Day—represent the capstone of that strategy....

This dynamic suggests that the 2020s could reprise earlier conflicts in American history, when a Court majority nominated and confirmed by the dominant party of a previous era systematically blocked the agenda of a newly emerging political majority—with explosive consequences. That happened as far back as the first years of the 19th century, when electoral dominance tipped from John Adams and the Federalists to Thomas Jefferson and his Democratic-Republican Party. At the time—and in language today’s Democrats would recognize—Jefferson complained that the Federalists “have retreated into the judiciary as a stronghold … the tenure of which renders it difficult to dislodge them.”...

Does not the Democrats' complaint sound familiar?

Phenomenal character from Schumer and the Democrats. If they are so worked up about how the Republicans ran their majority, acting out doesn't make them any better. "All's fair in love and war."
